Nancy

Megan is a graduate of MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts program and is going into her fourth and final year of the University of Alberta's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Although Megan is attending school in Edmonton, she is from Vancouver Island, where she first nurtured her love of performance in the local community theatre. Megan recently had the time of her life working on another new project called "Annette is a Bimbo!" with the Woman's Company in the Riser Regina Festival. Some of her favorite past roles include Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown and Sister Mary Ignatious in Sister Mary Ignatious Explains It All For You.

Chassidy Andrews is absolutely stoked to be doing her first fringe show! She is currently a third year student at MacEwan University's Bachelor of Fine Arts program so you may have seen her in their recent productions Spring Awakening or Company. In her free time she enjoys adventuring, photography, the color orange and plants! She would like to thank her friends and family who continue to support her through her artistic journey and she hopes you enjoy the show!

Pauline Miki (she/her) is an actor and singer/songwriter from the Philippines. Select theatre credits include: The Wolves (The Maggie Tree); Wild Moos Chase (Cathexis Theatre); The Life of Jose Rizal (BRC Academy). Select screen credits include: Umagang Kay Ganda (ABS-CBN); FAMAS Awards (Solaire). Catch Pauline's next performance on September 16, 2023 at the Louise Mckinney Park in Edmonton, Alberta.

Mera Martens

Mera Martens is excited to perform in Scamway, her second Fringe show, and would like to thank the amazing cast and crew for making this show come to the stage!  They are an Edmonton based artist originally from Grande Prairie, Alberta.  Their previous productions include Monique The Unique Unicorn with Scrap Magic Theatre and Working: A Musical with Citadel Young Companies.  When she’s not busy portraying fictional MLMs, you can usually find them reading, playing video games, playing tabletop RPGs, researching real life cults, and/or trying to pet stray cats!

Lily Davies (She/her) is an emerging artist going into her final year of the BFA Acting Program at the University of Alberta. It is her second year attending the Edmonton Fringe Festival and her first year as an artist. She is excited to be part of this amazing team but even more excited to try some delicious green onion cakes and mini donuts! Select credits include Lucia in Cymbeline (UofA) and Emma A in People, Places and Things (UofA). When she is not performing Lily enjoys singing, writing, and listening to sad indie music on a loop.

Emily Smith is so excited to be working with Cathexis theatre for the third year in a row! They appeared in Big Bright and dramaturged Big Bright and Wild Moos Chase. When they are not performing in Fringe they can be found performing clown turns as Shorty with their clown partner Scamp and completing the BFA in Musical Theatre at MacEwan. Enjoy the show!

Marina Mikhaylichenko (Patsy/Wren/Citizen 1/Police Officer, fight captain) - Marina (she/her) is delighted to make her Fringe debut in Scamway! She is about to go into her second year at MacEwan's new BFA in Music Theatre and can't wait for what's to come. She would like to thank the directors Erin Hutchison and Emily Smith for giving her the AMAZING opportunity to be a part of their show as cast and fight captain!

The Crew

Erin Hutchison
Playwright & Director

Erin is an Edmonton-based Director, Playwright, Actor, Clown and the Artistic Director of Cathexis Theatre. Previously written and directed shows include The Big Bright, Murder Mime the Musical, and The Grave Digger. Erin is a graduate of the Theatre Arts program at MacEwan University and has been seen most recently in the short film The Dumb Waiter, a variety of Scamp and Shorty shows, and Seance. Next on the docket is Scamp and Shorty’s Horror Stories in Play the Fool Festival this September. Erin is so thankful for the opportunity to work with all these incredible people! She enjoys all things chaos and hopes you enjoy the show!

Michelle Glen
Composer/Pianist

Michelle is an Edmonton based composer, songwriter and sound designer. Originally from Grimshaw, Alberta, she received her Bachelor of Music at the University of Alberta in 2019. Michelle is passionate about narrative musical works and enjoys exploring the crossover of storytelling and music through theatre, film and video games. She has composed works for chamber ensembles, choral ensembles, opera, solo instruments and electronics. Michelle is passionate about bringing important topics to light through collaborative works and hopes to inspire audiences in thought provoking ways. She is thrilled to have been involved in the creative process for Wild Moo’s Chase and is excited to return to the Fringe Festival this summer.

Andrew Despres
Producer

This is Andrew's first foray into producing and he is so excited to be doing it with Cathexis Theatre! Andrew is a Theatre Arts MacEwan graduate from all the way back in 2007. This is the 5th show with Cathexis Theatre he has been involved with going back to 2014. Previous shows include Murder Mime the Musical (2014 and 2017), The Big Bright (2019) and Wild Moo's Chase (2022).

 

Andrew is a full time IT Professional in his regular day to day life and the Owner of Techead Solutions, a local IT Consulting company.

Erin Vandermolen-Pater
Musical Director

Erin V-P is a singer, actor, aerialist, music teacher, and zoo keeper (2 cats, 1 dog, 1 husband). She recently performed in the NUOVA Vocals Arts (formerly Opera NUOVA) production of Romance, Romance at the Capitol Theatre in Fort Edmonton Park; and was a part of the Alberta Circus Arts Festival with a singing hoop act. She graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts a lifetime ago, and Victoria School of the Arts a lifetime before that. As always, thanks to Chet for his patience, for putting up with our menagerie of pets, and for keeping food in the fridge and on the table.

Caitlan Argueta
Stage Manager

Caitlan is an Edmonton-based Latine theatre technician. They are thrilled to be Stage Managing with Cathexis Theatre for Scamway. They are a graduate of the Theatre Production Diploma from MacEwan University, with a focus on Sound, and have studied at the Banff Centre of Arts and Creativity. Previous credits include: Hamlet, Comedy of Errors (Freewill Shakespeare Festival); Scenes from a Sidewalk (Plain Jane Theatre); Jane Eyre, The Herd, Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Citadel); and El Funeral (Diaspora Diaries Collective).

Jennifer Bilyk

Choreographer

Jennifer started dancing at a young age at L.A Dance Academy in Leduc, and continued her dance journey at Dance FX in Wetaskiwin, where she immediately fell in love with the art form and performing. Her love of performance led her to musical theatre, a passion that she took from the age of 6 through to university. Jennifer graduated from Macewan’s Theatre Arts program in 2013 alongside Erin. Since then, Jennifer has gratefully choreographed for Cathexis consistently, including Grave Digger, Murder Mime The Musical, The Big Bright, and Wild Moos Chase. Jennifer is excited and thankful to be back for this years show of SCAMWAY!

Amy Dass

Lighting and Set Designer

Amy is a fourth-year BFA designer at the University of Alberta, specializing in Set and Lighting design. Originally from India, Amy moved to Canada almost six years ago and fell in love with theater in high school before deciding to make it her full-time career. Amy has worked with many theater companies over the years and regularly works with Fringe Theatre Adventures as a technician. In her free time Amy also works as a plus size model and actor. 

 Some of her recent theater works include, The Circle (2023), Set and Costume Design; Cymbeline (2023), Makeup Designer; Talk Treaty to Me (Fringe 2023), Set and Lighting designer; Hyena's trail (2023), Lighting and Sound Design.

 Amy is excited to see where life takes her as she explores the world of theater, art and travel.

Skylar Veldhuis

Costume and Props Designer

Skylar is going into their fourth year as a designer at the University of Alberta’s BFA Theatre Production program. They enjoy learning languages and speak English, French, German, and conversational Spanish. They attended Spruce Grove Composite High School where they found their love of theatre and costuming. They were recently the costume designer on Hecuba and the costume and set designer for Cymbeline (both at the U of A). They spend their free time playing DND and practicing Tae Kwon Do in which they have a second degree black belt.
